Writing a successful college application essay can be the most important and rewarding part of the admissions process; it is the only place a student can truly express who they are beyond a collection of grades, activities, and scores. For this reason, the college essay can also be the most challenging part of applying. This intimate, two-week course intensive is designed for rising seniors looking to get a jump start in the college essay process and overcome the tyranny of the blank page.
Students will emerge from the course with a competent essay draft that will be the foundation for their admissions work moving forward. Working with Dr. Kim and Dr. Ryan, who have between them ten years of experience teaching essay writing for Brown and U of Chicago’s Pre-College Programs, students who complete this program will have:
-
A working draft of their college personal statement
-
Scheduled one-on-one office hours available with instructors during the course
-
An orientation led by a Scholars Collective counselor on the important milestones in the college application process
-
A 45 min capstone session with the instructors and our lead Academy Counselor
-
Proprietary rates on further one-on-one tutoring and college consulting
